Gourmet Pet Supply was founded in 1991 under the name of Beak Appétit. In 2005 the company was incorporated and renamed to Gourmet Pet Supply, Inc.. The founding idea and commitment was to producing avian diets for exotic pet birds that are all natural, nutritionally balanced and therefore enhancing bird's physical and mental wellbeing.

What became apparent to many loving bird owners and avian veterinarians was the fact that birds were dying of malnutrition. Most of the foods given to birds were simply various types of seed mixes, all of them deficient in certain vitamins, minerals, and protein.

Beak Appetit developed 6 unique varieties of a cooked diet, which solved three major problems faced by all pet bird owners:

  • nutritional balance and completeness
  • acceptance by the bird, due to the variety of tastes and textures that copy the foods birds find in nature
  • ease of cooking and feeding

Since then Gourmet Pet Supply has added a multitude of new products to their assortment and is continuing to develop existing as well as new products on the same founding principles. Throughout the history of Gourmet Pet Supply quality of ingredients and an all natural approach have been the key to our success and have established Gourmet Pet Supply as one of the premier companies in the pet food industry.

Gourmet Pet Supply has recently entered the Reptile Foods Market with 4 innovative blends of reptile foods being sold under the Jurassic Cuisine brand. Developing instant diets for reptiles was something that came naturally to Gourmet Pet Supply and has triggered an overwhelmingly positive response from reptile owners and breeders.
